NRW affords a wide range of occasions to enjoy the atmosphere of a greater club’s top-class game. At present seven clubs in the area play in the first German soccer league, Erste Bundesliga and soccer is of greatest significance in this region. Not only here. Germany’s most popular sport was, is and always will be soccer.
Whilst other countries are dominated by cricket, baseball, rugby, basketball or American football, German fans suffer, sometimes fight and cheer for their favoured soccer clubs, whether big players or the smaller clubs in lower-ranking leagues. After the Fifa World Cup in 2006, soccer euphoria has increased even more and the national soccer team is adored as seldom before.
