Fashion.

Paris, Milan, Beijing? Beijing is not exactly what most would call synonymous with the fashion world just yet, but with world-renowned Chinese designers such as Guo Pei leading the way in Chinese fashion, that is sure to change.

Beijing is home to several fashion design schools, with the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and the Raffles design institute ranking among the best in Asia. Beijing has a high percentage of fashion-conscious people, and there are numerous fashion and lifestyle magazines published and TV programs aired to keep them up to date and well-informed on any changes and new trends in the fashion world.

Beijing is also host to the biannual and very successful Beijing International Fashion Week, held twice a year (featuring autumn/winter collections in April and spring/summer collections in November) at both D-park in Beijing’s 798 Art District and at Beijing Hotel. The Beijing International Fashion Week hosts a variety of shows from young up-and-coming designers, famous Chinese designers such as Guo Pei, Qi Gang, and Yang Ziming (Cabbeen), and other well-known designers from all over the world.
