Pubs.

Traveling to Beijing might mean giving up your favorite drinking hole, but it won’t mean giving up your tipple of choice.  China’s capital has come light years from the old days of the dingy hotel-basement bar, and now boasts a wide array of pubs with foreign beers on tap and all the comforts of your local.

It’s more common for in Chinese culture for people to do most of their drinking at a restaurant, accompanying a large, multi-course meal.  But with pub culture on the rise, there are increasingly more options in Beijing, many of them fully authentic and foreign-owned.

Most of these are located in the Chaoyang district, radiating out from the younger-crowd area of Sanlitun into the more mature expat strongholds in Lido and Shunyi.
