China was a relative latecomer in the world of modern dance, but they’re making up for lost time in the form of the Beijing International Dance Festival, promoting contemporary dance in China’s cultural capital.
The festival, which launched in the spring of 2008, is slated to return every spring, bringing an international edge to Beijing’s dance scene. The first festival in the annual series featured troupes from the mainland, Hong Kong, Germany, and America.
