Fitness.
Whether you’re a fitness fanatic or just want to shed a few pounds, Beijing has the facilities to cater to you.
Just a quick look around the city is enough to demonstrate the prevalence of health consciousness in China. Public exercise equipment in every park and hoards of retirees doing their morning tai chi are the visible signs that fitness is big in Beijing.
If the park equipment isn’t quite up to your standards, there is a large and growing variety of western gyms to meet your fitness needs. At the head of the pack are fitness centers in high-end hotels, which offer a luxury workout at a premium price.
More affordable are the numerous Western chains, which have opened outlets in Beijing, CSI-Bally being the most popular. Membership in one of these gyms usually runs about ¥3,500 annually.
