With a pharmacy dotted on practically every second corner, obtaining over the counter medication is relatively easy.

Furthermore, many drugs which back home you may need a prescription for, are available over the counter. This makes life a great deal easier, especially in light of the language barrier.

If more serious medical attention is required, you can go to one of the hundreds of hospitals in Beijing; just so long as you don’t mind queuing up for a while. If time is of the essence however and you don’t mind paying a little extra, you can visit one of the many foreign hospitals and clinics offering English speaking doctors and an environment that may seem a little more familiar, especially in a time of need.
