The market, located near the north gate of the Temple of Heaven Park, offers a large array of silk products, including bedding, blankets, embroidery, gowns, scarves, ties, traditional Chinese dresses (called “qipaos”), slippers, and undergarments. Handmade carpets, tapestries and a wide selection of different fabrics are also for sale.
However, the Yuanlong Silk Market is not only home to its reputable silk goods. The building also houses the Yuanlong Silk Museum, which highlights the history of silk and its production and manufacture. Besides learning about the history, visitors will also have the chance to watch experienced weavers give live demonstrations of their work.
